Rebecca 2024-25 SLA

We are excited to announce that Rebecca, an Edmond North High School junior, has been accepted into the prestigious 2024-2025 Superintendent’s Leadership Academy (SLA)! This program, designed to nurture and develop leadership skills in students, is an incredible opportunity for Rebecca to push herself out of her comfort zone and grow as a leader.

Rebecca is thrilled to be part of this selective group, where she will work on essential leadership skills such as effective communication, teamwork, and decision-making. With a strong passion for growth and a determination to challenge herself, Rebecca sees this as the perfect chance to refine her skills and prepare for a bright future.

About the Superintendent’s Leadership Academy

The SLA is open to high school juniors, seniors, and adult students to develop leadership potential in young people. It offers students a unique learning experience through hands-on activities, collaboration, and direct engagement with community and state leaders.

Key Dates for the SLA Program

Rebecca and her fellow SLA participants will attend a series of sessions throughout the school year, each designed to address a different aspect of leadership:

  • October: Shiloh Ropes Course
    • A day focused on building trust, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a dynamic outdoor environment.
  • November: Oklahoma Regional Food Bank
    • A hands-on community service experience, showing the importance of leadership in service and giving back.
  • December: Effective Communication
    • A session focusing on communication strategies for leaders, helping students learn how to inspire, guide, and collaborate effectively.
  • February: State Capitol
    • A visit to the Oklahoma State Capitol to explore leadership at the government level, and learn more about civic engagement.
  • March: SLA Banquet
    • A culminating celebration where students, families, and school leaders come together to recognize the accomplishments of the SLA participants.

Commitment to Leadership

Participants like Rebecca are expected to attend all sessions unless an absence is unavoidable and adequately documented. This commitment reflects the academy’s emphasis on responsibility, discipline, and perseverance—core values that every great leader must embody.

As Rebecca embarks on this exciting journey, we couldn’t be prouder of her commitment to pushing her limits and stepping up as a future leader. We know she will make the most of every opportunity and come out of this experience with newfound confidence and skills that will last a lifetime.

Let’s all cheer Rebecca on as she takes this step toward building a bright and impactful future!
